CELEBRACION DE HALLOWEEN EN DIFERENTES PAISES DEL MUNDO ORIGEN DE LA PALABRA HALLOWEEN La palabra Halloween tiene sus orígenes en la Iglesia Católica. Es una constracción de la oración en inglés All Hallows Eve que significa "El Día de Todos los Santos" y es una fiesta religiosa católica que se celebra el 1 o 2 de noviembre. ¿DE DONDE VIENE? En el siglo V AC, en la Irlanda de los Celtas, el 31 de octubre se celebraba el festival de de Samhain que conmemoraba el final del verano y el inicio de un nuevo año. Al caer la noche, se celebraba la fiesta de los muertos, así que los espíritus salían y rondaban por toda la tierra. Para apaciguarlos, se hacían hogueras enormes y los druidas hacían conjuros. Se decía que durante esa noche los hechizos y la magia eran más potentes que en cualquier otro día. Cuando los romanos conquistaron a los celtas, parte de esta celebración a los muertos pasó a la Roma cristiana. En el siglo IV DC en Roma, el cristianismo trató de acabar con todas las cosas paganas y las religiones antiguas. Pero los celtas no podían dejar del todo sus costumbres, así que la iglesia cristiana les cambió el nombre de Samhain a All Hallow Eve y la razón de esta celebración se convirtió en la adoración cristiana de todos los mártires religiosos. La iglesia cristiana del siglo VII celebraba el día de Todos los Santos en Mayo, pero la gente seguía esperando la llegada de fantasmas el 31 de octubre, así que la fiesta a los santos fué cambiada al 1 de noviembre.
